Vidpust at St. Mary’s, Yorkton
St. Mary’s Parish, Yorkton, SK, celebrated its annual Pilgrimage, June 23 – 26, 2011. Fr. Larry Kondra, C.Ss.R. was the guest missionary. The theme of this year’s Vidpust was based on a reflection Mark 4:35-41 “Who can this be that the sea and the wind obey Him?”
There were two special additions to this year’s event. At the end of the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, the faithful processed outside to the Grotto where an icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help had been recently installed. This particular icon is the original from the Grotto that was at St. Vladimir’s College, Roblin, Manitoba. Then, after the blessing at the Grotto, people gathered in the parish center for a banquet where Fr. Vladimir Kolpakov was the guest of honor. The parish recognized Fr. Vladimir’s 25th year of priestly ordination. Fr. Vlad has spent his entire priestly ministry in Saskatchewan and served at St. Mary’s as assistant pastor for a number of those years. Guests from the Yorkton district, Ituna, Foam Lake and Wynyard were present, representing places where Fr. Vlad has served over the years.
