Stage Three: Temporary & Perpetual Vows

At the end of the Novitiate period, if successful, an associate formally commits himself to religious life by publicly professing the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. He is now officially a Redemptorist. The vows at this stage are temporary. After three years of temporary vows, final or perpetual vows can be taken.

During the time of temporary vows, students are engaged in a formal study of Theology. Three years of study for a basic degree in Theology is the minimum requirement before the student can be ordained to the priesthood.
